Two of these unique vehicles were delivered to the SAR in 1906. One to operate
on the South East narrow gauge system and the other the Northern narrow gauge
system between Quorn and Hawker.
Eventually taken over by the Commonwealth Railways and classified NJAB1 the rail
motor continued to operate over the same trackwork for a number of years until
eventual retirement.
It spent time as a static exhibit in Alice Springs until rescued and restored to
its original condition by the Pichi Richi Railway Preservation Society in Quorn.
Returning to service in 1984 'The Coffee Pot' continues to delight enthusiasts
as they experience 'riding the rails' on this quaint piece of transportation
history.
